The Quantum Collapse at Furnace Flats
Battlefield: a scorching desert plain at noon · 6 Oct 2026 · Ranked
Delta Force & Quantum Tech
10 Delta Force soldiers supported by 1 highly intelligent tech with a quantum computer that is able to alter reality around opposing forces in order to change their abilities.
Pilkington Clones & South Africa
A clone army of Karl Pilkingtons, 500 thousand strong, armed with modern gear. Supported by the South African army, with 5 nukes.
ROUND 1 OF 4
The Delta Force contingent deploys in a tight defensive wedge as 50,000 Pilkington clones crest the dunes, their identical faces fixed in expressions of bewilderment. The quantum tech hums to life, and reality warps—the lead clone battalions suddenly find their ammunition inert, their rifles heavy as lead, their legs heavy as treacle. For a glorious moment, the technology works, and the operators rain surgical fire across the wasteland.
ROUND 2 OF 4
But the quantum computer's grip slackens. Across the plain, hundreds of thousands more clones march on, shrugging off the interference like water from their shoulders. South African jets shriek overhead, and the Delta position erupts in dust and shrapnel; three operators fall before the tech can recalibrate.
ROUND 3 OF 4
The quantum device fractures under the strain of maintaining its effect against such overwhelming force. Reality snaps back into place with a sound like breaking glass. The clones surge forward in a grey tide, now freed from their affliction, whilst a second bombing run levels the entire defensive line—the quantum computer's operators scream their final calculations into static.
ROUND 4 OF 4
A lone Delta sergeant, bleeding and half-deaf, triggers his beacon for a nuclear counterstrike, but it arrives three seconds too late. A Pilkington clone, grinning that familiar confused grin, plants his bayonet into the sand beside the man's outstretched hand.
» The last Delta operator collapses into the scorching sand as half a million identical clones, completely unharmed, stand victorious in the shimmering heat.
THE WAR ORACLE'S VERDICT
This matchup hinges entirely on whether the quantum computer functions as described. If it works reliably, 10 Delta operators with reality-warping technology could theoretically disable or cripple a force of 500,000 untrained clones. However, the quantum computer is speculative science, prone to malfunction, and faces immediate practical limits: it must work within range, cannot rewrite basic physics indefinitely, and a single nuclear detonation anywhere nearby destroys both sides. More realistically, the Pilkington army achieves mass casualties through overwhelming numbers and sheer probability, whilst South African air support rains ordnance. The 10 Delta soldiers, however elite, cannot survive a nuclear strike. The quantum computer's actual capabilities remain unknown and unproven in combat.
- Quantum computer reliability—if it works, Delta wins; if it fails or malfunctions, they are overrun
- Nuclear weapons eliminate the Delta advantage entirely if deployed
- Training disparity: Delta vs untrained clones favours Delta, but numbers overwhelm training at this scale
- Desert heat, distance, and resupply chains favour the larger force
MVP: Sheer clone mass and air superiority
The Pilkington Clone Collective absorbed catastrophic casualties—over 460,000 fallen in the blazing desert—but their numbers proved absolute. South Africa's air superiority and nuclear arsenal remained mercifully unused for the decisive blow.
