The Slaughter at Pale Pass
Battlefield: a narrow mountain pass · 12 Oct 2026 · Unranked
Office Supply Militia
5000 graphic designers armed with desk chairs and sharpened keyboards.
Elite Naval Operators
16 Navy SEALs with suppressed rifles, night vision, body armour, grenades, 2 recon drones and a sniper team, but limited ammunition and no vehicles or air support.
ROUND 1: THE ONLY ROUND
The Office Supply Militia surges into the narrow defile in a chaotic mass, desk chairs held aloft like battering rams, sharpened keyboards glinting in the thin mountain light—until the first suppressed rifle cracks echo off the stone walls and the leading ranks crumple in a spray of crimson. A recon drone circles overhead, painting targets with clinical precision; within seconds, grenades detonate among the densest clusters, and the roar of panicked screaming drowns out the designers' war cries. The Navy SEALs, arrayed along the ridge line in perfect formation, maintain disciplined fields of fire as the crowd below transforms into a writhing heap of overturned furniture and abandoned keyboards. By the time the fourth wave attempts to advance, the pass floor is slick with blood and littered with the dead, and the remainder of the militia breaks in complete rout, fleeing downslope in blind terror.
» The last designer throws down his keyboard and bolts for the pass exit, only to meet a suppressed round that drops him mid-stride.
THE WAR ORACLE'S VERDICT
Despite the 312-to-1 numerical disadvantage, the Navy SEALs win decisively. A mountain pass naturally funnels the massive crowd, reducing the graphic designers' numbers advantage to irrelevance; they cannot bring overwhelming force to bear simultaneously. Each SEAL can kill dozens of untrained, unarmed civilians with rifle bursts before needing to reload. Grenades, drones for targeting and suppressive fire create catastrophic casualties and panic. The designers have no armour, no weapons that penetrate body armour, and no combat discipline. They will route after suffering 10–15% casualties.
- Terrain funnels the mob, negating numerical advantage
- Superior firepower and training create overwhelming local superiority
- Panic and disorder in an untrained mass facing gunfire
- Grenades and drones allow area denial in confined space
MVP: The precision recon drones and sniper nest.
Fewer than five hundred graphic designers escape the mountain pass alive, leaving behind nearly four thousand casualties and a pass that will take weeks to clear of the dead. The Navy SEALs secure the position without a scratch, their ammunition reserves barely depleted.
